The 23rd Midyear Convention of the Philippine Society of Medical Oncology (PSMO), held at Baguio Country Club from April 24-27, 2025, culminated in a special celebration—Fellowship Night—a tradition that allows us to step back from the intensity of scientific discourse and simply embrace the spirit of community.
A vital part of this journey is the induction of our Associate Members—twenty-eight graduates of our fellowship training programs—who now stand at the threshold of their subspecialty examination in medical oncology. Their induction marks a significant milestone, a testament to their dedication and unwavering commitment to professional certification.
At PSMO, we want them to know they are entering a field where support, mentorship, and camaraderie are just as vital as knowledge. As Atul Gawande reminds us:
"Better is possible. It does not take genius. It takes diligence. It takes moral clarity. It takes ingenuity. And above all, it takes a willingness to try."
These induction ceremonies celebrate that willingness—not just the drive to excel in oncology, but the openness to learn from one another, uplift peers, and build a community that makes our work truly meaningful.
Congratulations to our new Associate Members. As you embark on this next chapter, know that you are never alone—you are part of a legacy of collaboration, excellence, and compassion.
